Andrew McCutchen recently picked up his 2,000th career hit. I was going to feature him in a Card of the Day article to celebrate the occasion, but I decided to give the Card of the Day series a rare day off and go for something else in its place.
McCutchen became the 294th player to reach 2,000 hits. It could be 295 by the time you read this, because Freddie Freeman isn’t far behind. Below you will find the list of all of the members of the 2,000 hit club who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are sorted by their career total, which is then followed in parenthesis by their total with the Pirates. It’s a long list as you might expect. I put an asterisk after the names of players in the Hall of Fame
