The Pirates’ game against the Phillies at Three Rivers was rained out. It’d be made up as part of a doubleheader in August.
With no game to recap, I wanted to ask a question. I’m not making any promises or predictions, but assuming this 1979 exercise goes well, I might want to do something like this again in the future. If I did, I’d prefer not to do the 1970s again. The two logical seasons, then, would be 1909 or 1925. I’d really like to do 1925. I’ve always been fascinated by that season. The Pirates then were kinda similar to the 1979 edition: a few stars (Cuyler/Carey/Traynor instead of Stargell/Parker/Blyleven) and a lot of very solid players.
The question, then, is whether there’d be any interest in a 1925 recap at some future date. Naturally, I realize the players are much more obscure to most fans now. My obsession with Pirates’ history goes way back. As a kid, two of my most prized possessions were the old Fred Lieb book on the Pirates and a 1969 baseball encyclopedia that my dad gave me. By the time I was in high school they were in pretty bad shape. Anyway, let me know in the comments. And don’t hesitate to say no if that’s how you feel. I’d rather not do it if there’s little interest.
